Industrial Products Company

Shop number 15 in the Nemnath Complex is where we set up. It's on Plot Number 1, so it’s right at the start of the row. We’ve got all sorts of industrial stuff crammed into the space. Shelves go all the way to the ceiling, filled with bolts, valves, and things most people wouldn't even recognize. It’s a bit dark inside because the light bulbs keep flickering. We never seem to remember to bring a ladder from home to change them. Most of our day is spent looking through catalogs or helping someone find a specific part. Often, they bring in a greasy plastic bag with a broken bit in it. We get our hands dirty quite a lot. The complex itself is always busy with people moving crates. Trucks are always backing in and out of the narrow driveways. It’s not the cleanest place in the world, but it’s where the work gets done. We keep a ledger on the counter that’s seen better days. There’s no air conditioning, so we just keep the shutter halfway up and hope for a breeze to come through. Some days are slow and we just chat with the guys from the shop next door. Other days, three people want things at once and it’s a bit of a scramble to find where everything is hidden. We don't do much in the way of advertising; people just find us by talking to each other.
