Arun Masala

Arun Masala is based out of Nittur, right on the Bangalore Honavar Road. Our address is 856/45. Being on the main road means we get a lot of people stopping by while they are traveling between towns. It’s a convenient spot for us and for them. We do all our spice grinding and mixing right here on the premises. The sound of the grinding machines is pretty much constant during the working day. We have a small group of people working here, mostly folks who live in the village or just down the road. We don't have a big corporate office or any fancy stuff. It’s just a shop at the front and a work area in the back. You can usually smell the cardamom, cloves, and chillies from the road before you even see the building. Sometimes we have a lot of big orders to get through, and the whole place gets a bit crowded with bags of raw spices waiting to be processed. We don't use any fancy advertising or marketing agencies. People just see our hand-painted sign on the road or hear about us from their neighbors. The work is repetitive and tiring, but we take it seriously. We spend our time checking the blends and making sure the bags are sealed properly so they stay fresh. It’s a hands-on kind of business. We’ve been here for years, and we’ve seen the traffic on the road get heavier. We just keep doing what we know. We like the work.
