Zara James Studio

Zara James Studio is on the 3rd floor of the Jeevan Sahakar building on Sir P M Road in the Fort area of Mumbai. We are right next to the RBI, so the security in the area is always quite tight. The building is one of those old Mumbai structures with high ceilings and a somewhat old-fashioned lift. Being in Fort is great because of the history and the beautiful old buildings all around us. Our studio is a place where we do a lot of creative work, whether it is design or photography or something similar. We have a few big desks and some lamps for working late into the evening. It’s usually pretty quiet on the third floor, which is nice because the streets downstairs are always noisy with taxis and people walking to the station. We spend our days at our computers or talking about different ideas for projects. Sometimes we go for a walk to get some air and end up looking at the architecture around Horniman Circle. We don't have a big sign outside. It’s just a regular office where we get our work done. We like the vibe of this part of town. It feels like real Mumbai. There are no corporate slogans here. We just come in, do our work, and try to make something that looks good. It’s a simple setup but it works well for the kind of stuff we do.
