Yasmin Textile Printing

Yasmin Textile Printing is tucked away in Pathan Chawl, over in the Hari Nagar area of Jogeshwari East. If you know the Young India School, we are just a short walk from there. It’s a crowded neighborhood, and our space is quite tight, but we make it work. Every day is about colors and fabrics. We do a lot of screen printing and block work here. The smell of the dyes is something you never really get used to, but it’s part of the trade. We have long tables where the fabric gets laid out, and it takes a lot of coordination to make sure the patterns line up. It’s a lot of manual labor. We aren't using big computerized printers; it’s mostly us doing the work by hand. The chawl is always lively, with kids playing nearby and neighbors chatting. It can get a bit chaotic when we have a big order to finish and the space feels even smaller. We try to keep things organized, but with so much cloth around, it’s hard. We’ve been in Jogeshwari for a long time, and most of our workers live just a few streets away. It’s a local operation through and through. We just want to do a good job on the prints so the customers are happy when they pick up their bundles. It's simple work but it keeps us busy. Sometimes the colors don't mix right on the first try, but we just fix it and keep going.
