Y. A. & Co.

Masjid Bunder is always crowded, so being at Y. A. & Co. on the first floor is actually quite convenient. We don't have to climb too many steps at 50 Sarang Street. The street outside is full of people and carts all day long. It's noisy, but that's just the way this part of the city is. We've been in this spot for a long time now. Inside, it's mostly shelves and folders. It’s a bit cramped because we have a lot of stuff, but we know where everything is. Mostly. Sometimes we get a lot of visitors, and other days it’s just us doing the accounts or talking to suppliers. The air in Masjid Bunder is heavy with all sorts of smells, mostly spices and old buildings. We like being on the first floor because we can see what's happening on the street without being right in the middle of the dust. It's a practical place. Nothing is shiny or new, but it's sturdy. We start early because the market starts early. If you come by in the afternoon, it's usually a bit slower. We just do our thing here and try to keep things organized. It’s a family-run kind of vibe, even if it’s busy. We just keep moving along with the rest of the street. It’s a lot of work but we have been doing it for years now and don’t plan on leaving.
