Oberoi Nickel Industry

Our workshop is tucked away in the Shah Nahar Industrial Estate over in Worli. It’s one of those places where you can hear the sound of metal hitting metal from the moment you walk into the compound. We do nickel work here. It’s not the cleanest job in the world, and your hands usually end up stained by the end of the shift. The estate itself is quite old and crowded with other small businesses. We have our small corner where the tanks and the plating equipment sit. Most of the time, the air smells a bit like chemicals and hot metal. We don’t have a big fancy sign or a reception area. If you want to talk to us, you just walk into the main floor and find someone who isn't wearing a mask. We’ve been in Worli for a while now, and we’ve seen the area change quite a bit, but our little shop stays pretty much the same. The workers here have been with us for a long time, so they know exactly how long to leave the pieces in the tanks. It’s a lot of manual labor and standing on your feet all day. We take our breaks outside by the tea stall when things get too hot. It’s just a regular industrial unit doing its part in a very busy part of Mumbai. No frills, just hard work and metal.
