Our office is in the Alankar Cinema Building on SVP Road. It’s a bit of a landmark in this part of Mumbai, though we aren't here for the movies. We’re tucked away on the sixth floor in unit four. The building is old and has that specific character you only find in south Mumbai. It can be a real struggle to find a parking spot anywhere near here, so most of us just take the train and walk from the station. The street below is always loud with honking and people shouting, but once you get up to the office, it’s a bit more manageable. We handle flow components, so there’s always a lot of talk about gaskets, flanges, and fittings. We have samples sitting on almost every flat surface in the room. It’s not a large office, so we’re all sitting pretty close to each other. When things get busy, it can feel a bit cramped, but we make it work. We spend a lot of time on the phone with suppliers and making sure the parts we are sending out are the right ones for the order. It’s a lot of detail-oriented work. Sometimes we go downstairs to the small shops nearby for a snack or a quick break. The elevator in this building is one of those old manual ones, and you have to make sure the gate is shut right or it won't move. It’s just a normal day of work for us trying to keep up with the pace of the city.
