Our place is in the Shlok building over in the Charkop industrial estate in Kandivli West. Being in a government industrial area means things are always moving around us. We deal with plastic coatings, so the office is often filled with the smell of samples and the sound of machines not too far away. It’s a functional space, nothing too pretty to look at, but it gets the job done for us. We have 60 C and D blocks, so we have a bit of room to move around. The staff here has been around for a long time, and we all know each other’s habits. We don't have a lot of formal rules about how things look, as long as the coating work is handled properly. During the monsoon, the roads around Charkop can get a bit messy, but we still show up and get the batches ready. We spend a lot of time checking how the materials look when they come in. If something isn't right, we have to spend the whole afternoon fixing it. It’s hard work and it can be a bit dusty sometimes, but that’s the nature of being in an industrial zone. We usually eat lunch together in the small break area. We aren't trying to be the biggest company out there; we just want to make sure the stuff we produce is what people asked for. It’s a steady life here in Kandivli.
