Vimaldeo H Thakkar

Our place is located in Noor Mansion, up on the second floor. You have to come down Military Square Lane off Burjorji Bharucha Marg here in Grant Road. It’s an old building with a lot of character, though the stairs can be a bit steep if you're carrying heavy stuff or if your knees aren't great. Vimaldeo H Thakkar has been operating from this spot for quite some time. The rooms have high ceilings which is nice when it gets hot in the summer because the air circulates better. We have a few big windows that look out over the lane. You can hear the sounds of the city all day long, mostly horns and people talking downstairs. It’s never really silent here. We have a lot of old ledgers and books stacked up because we don't like throwing things away if they might be useful later. The furniture is mostly mismatched stuff we've picked up over the years. It isn't a showroom, it’s just where we work every day. We usually start the day early before the traffic gets too bad. Someone always brings in snacks to share in the afternoon, like biscuits or some fruit. We don’t have a big staff, just a few of us who have known each other a long time. It feels more like a family than a corporate office. We just do our jobs.
