Vijay Lakshmi Electric Co. is located in the C-Sitaram Building at 57 D.N. Road. We are very close to Crawford Market, which means the whole area is constantly buzzing with people and carts. Our shop is in an old building with high ceilings and thick walls. It stays a bit cooler inside because of that, even when it is scorching outside. D.N. Road is one of those places that never really sleeps. We have wires, bulbs, and switches stacked all the way to the ceiling. It is a bit of a maze inside. We know where everything is, even if it looks messy to someone else. Being near Crawford Market means we get a lot of foot traffic and people asking for directions. We have been here for years, and the shop hasn't changed much. The wooden counters are worn smooth from all the customers leaning on them. We deal with a lot of regular contractors who have been coming to us since they started out. It is not a modern showroom with glass displays. Everything is in boxes or hanging from hooks. We spend our days climbing ladders to reach the top shelves. It is a simple life in a very busy part of Mumbai. The floorboards creak when you walk near the back storage area, and there is always some dust.
