Vijay Handicrafts

Vijay Handicrafts operates out of the ground floor in Malpa Dongri No. 1. We are located in Janabai Tare Chawl, which is a very local kind of place right in Andheri East. Being next to the Tata Compound makes it a bit easier to explain to people who are trying to find us for the first time. The space is not very large, but we make the most of every inch we have. Since we are on the ground floor, it’s easy to move things in and out, which is good because the lanes around here can get very congested. There is always the sound of traffic from the main roads nearby and the general noise of a busy Mumbai neighborhood. We don't have fancy interiors or a showroom vibe. It’s a working chawl, so you’ll see neighbors going about their day while we handle our daily tasks. The walls have some damp spots from the heavy rains we get, and the floor is just plain concrete that has worn down over the years. We keep our tools and materials organized as best as we can, but it’s a constant battle against the lack of space. It’s an honest place where we work hard and don’t worry too much about appearances. We just focus on the handiwork and making sure we finish what we started. There is no corporate mission statement on the wall here, just the daily schedule.
