We are up on the fifth floor of the Landmark Building in Andheri West. Plot B-9 on New Link Road. It’s a busy area, lots of offices and traffic. Our space is unit 506. We deal with switchgears and cables, mostly. The office is usually full of catalogs and samples of different wires. It’s not a very big place, but we have enough room for the desks and a small area for tea. The view from the window is mostly other buildings and the main road. We see the rain coming in during the monsoon before most people do. It’s a steady kind of work. We aren't trying to change the world. We just supply the parts that people need for their buildings. Sometimes the lift takes forever, so we end up walking down the stairs. It’s a good way to get some exercise, I suppose. The staff is just a few of us who have known each other for years. We talk about cricket and the news while we handle the paperwork. It’s a comfortable place to work. No one wears a tie here. We just get on with the daily tasks. We have a lot of files stacked up on the cabinets. It is a bit disorganized but we manage to find what we need. It’s just a normal office in a busy city. Most days are pretty much the same. We come in, check the messages, and get to work.
