We are set up on the third floor of the Gurudutt CHS building, which is part of Jadhav Colony in Belvali, Badlapur West. It’s a quiet enough area compared to the main city, but we stay busy enough at Venus Container Line Logistics Pvt.Ltd. Being on the third floor means we get a little bit of a breeze sometimes, which is nice during the summer months. The office is basically just a few rooms where we manage the movement of containers. We spend a lot of time on the computer and the phone, tracking where everything is. It’s a lot of coordination with drivers and port authorities. Our address at 14/C is easy to find once you are in the colony. The building is a regular housing society, so it feels more like a community than a cold business park. We have our regulars who drop by, and the walk up the stairs keeps us moving. The walls are lined with calendars and maps that have seen better days. It is not a place for showing off. We just have our desks, our ledgers, and enough tea to get through the afternoon slump. Most days are just about solving one small problem after another so the containers keep moving along the line. It’s steady work and we like the routine of being here in Badlapur. It gets dark early in the colony, so we usually try to finish up before the street lights flicker on.
