Veera Tanneries Pvt Ltd (A Government Recognised Export House)

Veera Tanneries Pvt Ltd is based at 266 Innawadi, which is right in the Dharavi area. We are known as a government-recognized export house, which basically means we have the right paperwork to send our goods abroad. Our facility is located in Innawadi, a part of Dharavi that is very much focused on the leather trade. It’s a place where you see hides and skins being moved every single day. The work we do is tough and it can be quite messy, but it’s what we know how to do. Our building is quite large to accommodate all the tanning processes and the storage of finished leather. We have many workers who have been with us for a long time, some even for decades. They know the smell of the tannins and the feel of the leather better than anyone. We don't have a fancy office for meetings; most of our discussions happen right on the shop floor or in a small corner with a couple of chairs. It is a very practical setup. The heat can be intense during the summer months, but the fans keep things moving. We just focus on the quality of the leather and making sure the export orders are ready when the trucks arrive. Dharavi is a complicated place to navigate, but for us, it’s just where we work and where our business has grown over the years.
