Veena Nursery

If you come down to Krishna Mansion at Bungalow Number 9 in Chembur, you’ll find us surrounded by a lot of green. Veena Nursery isn't a big industrial place; it’s more of a backyard that got bigger over time. We spend most of our mornings watering the plants and checking for bugs. My hands are usually covered in dirt by ten in the morning, which is just part of the job. We have all sorts of pots sitting around, some big, some small, and a lot of them are just waiting for someone to take them home. The bungalow setting makes it feel less like a shop and more like someone’s garden. We don’t have a fancy showroom. It’s mostly just rows of plants and a small shed where we keep the tools and seeds. People from the neighborhood often walk in just to walk around and look at the flowers. We don’t mind. It’s nice to have a bit of quiet in a place like Chembur. Sometimes we struggle with the monkeys coming over and messing with the saplings, which is a bit of a headache. The weather dictates what we do every day. If it’s pouring rain, we’re out there moving things so they don't drown. It’s honest work, even if it’s tiring on the back. We just like seeing things grow and making sure the soil is right for every pot we sell to our neighbors.
