Universal Importers Corporation

Our office is in the Navratan Building, room 505, over on P.D'Mello Road. This is the Carnac Bunder area, so you can imagine the kind of chaos we deal with every day. It is right by the docks, and there are always massive trucks blocking the street. Universal Importers Corporation has been operating from this building for years. The walls are a bit thin, so you can hear the horns honking from the street all day long. Inside, it’s mostly just desks covered in shipping documents and customs forms. We spend a lot of time on the phone trying to figure out where containers are. It’s a lot of back-and-forth with the port authorities. The Navratan Building is one of those old Mumbai structures that has seen better days, but it has a lot of character. We know the neighbors, mostly other trading firms. Lunch is usually whatever we can find at the local stalls nearby. It isn't a glamorous business. Dealing with imports means a lot of waiting and a lot of sudden rushes. We just keep our heads down and manage the logistics as they come. The air is always a bit salty from the sea nearby. It’s a busy, messy, and very real part of the city to work in, but we wouldn't know where else to go since everything we need is right here.
