Universal Cables Ltd is located at 159 C Road, right in the Churchgate Reclamation area. It’s a busy part of the city, and our office reflects that kind of pace. We deal with a lot of heavy-duty cables and industrial supplies, so there’s always something being loaded or unloaded nearby. The space is filled with the smell of rubber and metal, which is just what we’re used to after all these years. It’s not a place for window shopping; it’s where people come when they have a specific technical need. We have desks piled with invoices and technical drawings that we look over throughout the day. The windows look out onto the street, but we usually have the blinds drawn to keep the afternoon sun from heating everything up too much. It’s a practical environment. We don’t spend much time on decorations or making things look pretty for visitors. We’re more concerned with making sure the inventory counts are right and that the deliveries are going out to the right sites. It’s a lot of logistics and talking to drivers or engineers on the phone. We’ve been at this spot for a while now, and we’ve seen the neighborhood change, but our daily routine of handling cables remains pretty much the same. It’s just steady, straightforward work here at Churchgate for all of us.
