Unico Stones

Unico Stones is our small business based in Santacruz East, specifically in the Tara Icon building. We’ve been working with stones and tiles for quite a few years now. It’s a heavy job, and most days we end up covered in stone dust by lunch. We have different types of marble and granite slabs just leaning against the walls. People come in when they are doing up their kitchens or floors. We aren't designers, so we don't give much advice on style, but we know which stones are tough and which ones might stain. The area around Tara Icon gets really busy with traffic, so we usually tell people to visit us on a Saturday morning when it's a bit quieter. It’s mostly just me and two other guys who handle the lifting and the cutting. We have an old machine for polishing edges that makes a lot of noise, but it gets the job done. We don't bother with fancy brochures or expensive ads. Most people find us because their neighbor bought stone from us before. We try to be fair with the pricing, although the cost of transport keeps going up. It’s a straightforward way to make a living. We just show you what we have, tell you the price, and help you get it to your site. It’s honest work, and we like being in Santacruz.
