True Jewel is based out of the Sagar Industrial Estate in Dahisar East. It’s a bit of a trek to get here if you aren’t used to the Western Express Highway traffic. We are at unit 430, inside the Prabhat complex. It’s a busy area with a lot of small factories and workshops. Inside our place, it’s mostly about the work on the benches. We deal with jewelry, so there is a lot of fine detail involved. It can be quite loud with the machines running in the background. We have a small team of workers who have been with us for a long time. They know exactly what they are doing. We don't have a big showroom; it’s more of a production space. Most days are spent looking at stones or polishing metal. We get orders in and we try to get them finished on time. Sometimes a piece doesn't turn out right and we have to start over. That’s just part of the process. We don't do much advertising. People usually find out about us through word of mouth. It’s a practical setup. We have tea together in the late afternoon. Then it’s back to the lights and the magnifying glasses. Working in an industrial estate means we are surrounded by people making things. It feels good to be part of that. We just focus on the jewelry and getting it out the door.
