Tropicate Textiles is located over at Leela Baug, right on the Andheri Kurla Road. It’s a busy area, as anyone who drives through here knows. We’ve been working with fabrics and textiles in this building for a long time. The space is filled with rolls of cloth and samples everywhere you look. It can get a bit dusty with all the fibers in the air, but that’s just how it is in this business. We handle a lot of orders for different types of materials. Some days we are just sorting through stacks of inventory to find the right shade of blue or a specific weight of cotton. It’s practical work and involves a lot of lifting and moving things around. The office part is just a small corner with some old computers and a phone that rings more often than we’d like. We don’t have any big slogans or flashy advertisements. Most people find out about us by just stopping by or through word of mouth in the textile trade. Andheri Kurla Road is always noisy, but once you step inside Leela Baug, it feels a bit more like a workplace. We have a small crew and we all pretty much know what needs doing without being told. It’s a simple operation, really. We just focus on getting the fabric out to the people who need it and keeping things moving. It is a steady life for us.
