Trade India

We are based at 116, Abdul Rehman Street. This is one of those streets that is always packed with people and goods. If you’ve ever walked down here, you know it’s a hub for trading all sorts of hardware and stationery. We have our little corner here. Trade India isn't some corporate giant in a skyscraper. We are right in the thick of the market. The building is old and the stairs are narrow. We spend most of our time dealing with wholesalers and people looking for specific items. It gets very busy in the afternoons. Sometimes we have to shout to be heard over the noise from the street. We keep our records in big ledgers and on the computer too. It’s a mix of the old way and the new way. We don't have any fancy brochures. People know us because we have been at this address for a long time. They come in, ask for a price, and we negotiate. That’s just how business is done on Abdul Rehman Street. We don't have a mission statement on the wall. We just try to make sure we have what people are asking for. The shop gets a bit cluttered with samples and boxes, but we know where everything is. It’s a lot of hard work and long hours, but it’s what we do. We just keep the doors open and wait for the next customer.
