Torrp It Up

Down at Nariman Point on Bull Temple Road, it’s always a bit of a rush. We open up while the sun is still low and start getting the ingredients ready. This part of town gets really crowded with office workers around noon, so we have to be quick. The shop isn't very large. We spend a lot of time just making sure the counters are wiped down and the floor is swept. Sometimes the delivery guys are waiting right outside the door and it gets a bit chaotic. We started out because we saw a lot of people looking for a decent lunch without having to wait an hour. The bread comes in fresh every morning and we spend the first few hours just slicing things and getting ready for the surge. My cousin helps out with the registers on busy days. It’s a lot of standing on your feet all day long. We don't have any fancy decorations, just the menu on the wall and some stools. The air conditioning works okay but when the door keeps opening and closing, it struggles a bit. Most of our regulars are people who work in the buildings nearby. They know us by name and we know what they usually order. It’s just a regular spot for a regular meal. We try to keep things moving so nobody gets stuck in a long line during their break. The street is loud and there is always some construction going on, but we just get used to it.
