Down here in Borivali East, right off the Western Express Highway, we work out of Dheeraj Enclave. It is a pretty well-known spot, specifically Tower-1/C. Even though the name sounds like it belongs in a huge skyscraper downtown, this office is where we actually get the daily tasks done. We spend our hours looking at shipping schedules and dealing with the logistical side of things for the vessels. It can get pretty noisy with the highway so close by, but you get used to the sound of the traffic after a week or two. The office is full of maps and charts, and there is always someone on the phone talking about port arrivals. We are just a group of people who know a lot about the sea and how to move things across it. We do not really bother with fancy talk or making things sound better than they are. It is hard work and it takes a lot of patience to deal with all the different regulations and timing issues. Some days are longer than others, especially when there are delays at the docks. We just keep our heads down and focus on the lists we have to finish. It is a bit of a maze in this part of Mumbai, but we have our little corner figured out. We just do our bit to keep the ships moving.
