The Brihanmumbai Electricity & Transport Undertaking

This office is part of the BEST setup, located in Udyan Society over in the Ghatkopar area. Most people in Mumbai know who we are because of the red buses and the power bills, but this specific spot in the colony is where some of the administrative stuff happens. We are at 2/4 in the society. It’s a residential-feeling area, so it’s a bit quieter than being right on the main highway. We handle a lot of the back-end work that keeps things running for the city. It’s a lot of logging data and managing schedules. The building itself is quite modest, just a regular part of the BEST colony. We see the same faces every day, mostly other staff and people from the neighborhood. It’s a lot of routine, really. We arrive in the morning, check the logs, and deal with whatever issues came up overnight. There is always a stack of forms to go through. We don't really do the whole marketing thing because everyone already knows the name. It’s more about just keeping the services going for the public. Sometimes the office gets a bit warm in the summer, but we have the windows open to catch whatever breeze comes through Ghatkopar. It’s a steady job and we are just regular folks trying to make sure the electricity and buses stay on track as they should for everyone else in the city.
