Our Mumbai office for Boston Consulting Group is right in the heart of the action. If you know Mumbai, you know how fast everything moves, and it is no different inside our walls. We have a lot of people coming and going at all hours because the work doesn’t really stop. The view outside is mostly traffic and other buildings, which is pretty standard for this city. Inside, it’s a mix of people on laptops, phone calls, and folks gathered around whiteboards scribbling down ideas. We don't really have a lot of time for formalities. Usually, someone is running to a meeting or grabbing a quick snack between sessions. It is a bit loud sometimes with all the talking, but that’s just how we work. We have a lot of different teams doing a lot of different things, so you never really know who you might bump into at the coffee machine. The office has that lived-in feel because people spend a lot of time here. It isn't like those perfectly staged photos you see in magazines; there are stacks of papers and half-empty water bottles on most tables. We just try to keep up with the pace of the city. Being in Mumbai gives us a certain energy, even on the days when the monsoon rain is pouring down and everyone arrives a bit soaked. We are just a group of people trying to solve problems and get through the day's to-do list.
