The Baking Tray

The Baking Tray is tucked away at 22-F Kantwadi in Bandra, just off Turner Road. Most people find us by looking for the China Blue Restaurant nearby, which is a pretty good landmark to use. It’s a bit of a quiet corner compared to some of the busier streets in Bandra, but we like it that way. We spend most of our time in the back, dealing with ovens and flour. It’s a small operation, really. We started out just wanting to bake things that tasted right, without all the extra fuss you see in the big commercial places. The air usually smells like bread or sugar, depending on the time of day you walk in. It isn't always perfectly tidy, especially when we are in the middle of a big batch, but we keep things clean where it matters. We aren't trying to win any fancy awards or anything. We just want to make sure that when someone picks up an order, they’re happy with what they get. Some days the humidity makes the dough act up, and we have to adjust, but that’s just part of baking in this city. If you’re around Kantwadi, you can usually spot us easily enough. We are just local people doing what we know how to do. No big mission statements, just a lot of baking and keeping the shop running. It’s what we enjoy.
