Tata Steel

Down here in Kolgaon, near Dapoli in the Palghar area, life moves at its own pace. We’re tucked away at this Tata Steel location, and it’s a far cry from the big city offices. Most of the people working here are from the local villages. We know the roads around 401 404 pretty well, even the ones that get a bit muddy during the monsoon season. Our day starts early, usually before the sun gets too hot. It’s a lot of physical work and keeping an eye on the materials. We don't have any fancy signs or big glass windows. It’s more about the sheds and the storage space. Dealing with steel in a place like this means you have to be ready for anything, whether it's a delivery truck getting stuck or just the humidity making things difficult. We sit outside for our lunch sometimes, just to catch a breeze. It’s a plain way of working, but we’re used to it. There’s a sense of community here because everyone knows everyone else. We don't use a lot of big words to describe what we do. We just say we work at the steel yard. It’s about getting the job done and making sure the supplies get where they need to go. It’s a long way from the corporate headquarters, and we’re fine with that. It’s just us, the steel, and the local weather.
