Our spot is Unit No.10 inside the Prabhadevi Industrial Estate. If you know the V.S. Marg area, you know it's a real hub for all sorts of manufacturing. We deal with machines here. There is always a bit of grease on someone's hands and the sound of metal clicking or humming in the background. It isn't a quiet place to work, but we are used to it by now. The estate is old and has that specific smell of oil and dust. We spend our mornings checking the equipment and making sure the parts are ready for whatever job is on the schedule. Prabhadevi gets really crowded during the rush hour, so most of us try to get in early before the traffic on the main road gets too bad. We have some heavy tools and workbenches scattered around the unit. It’s not a showroom, it’s a workshop where things actually get made. Sometimes we have to move stuff around just to find a bit of space to sit down for lunch. Working at Tab Machiens means you’re on your feet a lot. We don’t mind it much. The neighbors in the other units are good people, and we help each other out if someone needs a specific wrench or a hand moving a crate. It’s a practical way to spend the day. We just focus on the machines and getting them out the door.
