Swastik Musical Cards

People often walk right past us if they aren't looking closely because Bhaskar Lane is so narrow and always packed with people moving boxes. We’ve been here in Bhuleshwar for quite some time now, just tucked away in this little spot at number nine. Our shop is filled with all kinds of musical cards, the ones that start playing a tune when you open them up. It gets pretty loud in here sometimes when kids start opening five or six different ones at the same time, but we don't really mind the noise much. The shelves are mostly crowded with different designs for weddings, birthdays, and just about any other event someone might be celebrating. We spend a lot of our mornings just dusting the displays and making sure the batteries in the older cards haven't died out yet. The light in the back of the shop isn't great, so we usually keep the front door wide open to let some of the street light in. It’s a busy life here in this part of the city, and we see all sorts of people coming through to find something that makes a bit of noise. We don't have fancy displays or anything like that, just stacks of cards and a couple of stools if someone needs to sit down while they choose. It’s a simple way to spend the day, listening to those little electronic melodies over and over again while the neighborhood goes about its business outside.
