Sri Siddhi Garment

Sri Siddhi Garment is tucked away in Room No. B-31, Chawl No. 26, right opposite the BMC School in Kamraj Nagar. This is in Ghatkopar East, and it is a very lively neighborhood. Since we are right across from the school, we hear the kids playing and the bells ringing all day long. It is a chawl setting, so the space is quite tight and we have to be very smart about how we store our fabrics and sewing machines. We spend the whole day cutting cloth and stitching garments to get them ready for our customers. It is a lot of hard work in a small room, but we are used to it by now. The atmosphere in Kamraj Nagar is very local and everyone knows everyone else’s business. We have piles of clothes in different stages of being finished sitting on the benches. Sometimes we have to step out into the alley just to get a bit of air when it gets too hot inside with all the machines running. We aren't a big factory, just a small operation doing our bit in Ghatkopar. People come by with orders and we write them down in a big ledger we keep on the shelf. The V. N. Marg road nearby is always busy, which helps when we need to transport our finished bundles to the market. It’s a humble place, but it’s where we spend our lives making clothes and trying to keep things moving along for our families.
