Site Supervisor

You can find us over in Andheri East, right in the MIDC area. My name is Sanjib Roy and I work out of the space provided by Nemai Chanda at Kirannagar. If you know Mumbai, you know how hectic it gets around here. Being a site supervisor in this part of the city means dealing with constant noise and trying to manage schedules when the traffic is a nightmare. I spend my days jumping between different spots, checking on the progress of various construction tasks. One minute I’m looking at the steel reinforcements and the next I’m talking to a guy about the tile work. It’s a lot of coordination. I don’t have a big team or a fancy setup. It’s just me and the workers on the ground. We deal with the rain when it comes and the heat when it doesn't. My focus is just on the daily tasks. Did the cement arrive? Is the scaffolding safe? I’ve been doing this long enough to know when someone is cutting corners, and I don't let that slide. It’s honest work that keeps me busy from sunrise until late evening. The MIDC zone is always growing, so there is never a dull moment. I just try to keep things organized so the owners don't have to worry about the small stuff. It’s just the way I work, keeping it simple and direct every day.
