If you go down M. G. Road and look for the Kela Bakhar area, you’ll find us at Raja Rakhi Art. We are right near the Sai Baba Mandir in Laxmi Baug, Sion. It’s a very local spot and the temple brings a lot of people through this way every single day. Our shop is just No. 1, tucked into a corner where we keep all our rakhi supplies and finished pieces. During the busy season, the whole place is overflowing with threads, beads, and colors. It’s a bit of a mess sometimes, but we know where everything is kept. We have been making these for years now. It started small and we just stayed in this same spot because everyone knows to find us here near the mandir. The room is small and the shelves are high. We spend a lot of time sitting and working on the small details of the art. It’s not a quiet place because of the street noise and the bells from the temple, but it’s a good atmosphere to work in. We aren't a big factory or anything. We just do the work ourselves and sell to the people who walk by or the ones who have been coming to us for a long time. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy through the year, even when it isn't the festival time. We just keep making things and hope people like what they see on our tables. It’s just how we do things here.
