Shyam Jewelers

You can find us at Guru Nanak Shopping Centre on Shankar Lane. We are right at No. 2, directly opposite the Shankar Temple in Kandivali West. It’s a good spot because the temple brings a lot of people to the lane. Shyam Jewelers has been a part of this neighborhood for many years. We spend our days looking at small stones and pieces of gold through magnifying glasses. It’s quiet work that requires a lot of focus. The shop isn't very big, so it feels crowded even when only a few people are inside. We have glass cases that we have to wipe down constantly because of fingerprints. Being in Kandivali West, we see the same faces every day. We know the other shopkeepers and the people who live in the apartments nearby. We don’t do big TV ads or have a huge social media following. Most people hear about us from their parents or neighbors. We just try to be fair and do the work right. Sometimes someone brings in an old piece of jewelry that needs fixing, and we spend hours trying to get it back to how it was. It’s a lot of sitting and a lot of patience. We close up when the temple bells start ringing in the evening. It’s a steady routine that we’ve grown quite fond of over the years. We keep things simple.
