Shriratnachandra Nidhi Limited

Our small office is at Shop Number 1 in the Telwala Chawl on G D Ambekar Marg. Being in Naigaon, Dadar East, we are right in the middle of a very old and busy part of Mumbai. The Kolkeshwar Mandir is just nearby, so we often hear the bells and the sounds of the devotees throughout the day. The chawl itself has a lot of history, and the walls are thick but you can still hear everything happening on the street. It’s a very compact space, so we have to be very organized with our ledgers and chairs for Shriratnachandra Nidhi Limited. We don't have air conditioning, just a ceiling fan that has been humming for years. People from the neighborhood stop in all the time, sometimes just to say hello while they are on their way to the market. We handle the business right here across a simple wooden counter. The traffic on the main road is constant, but inside we try to keep things calm so we can focus on the numbers. It’s a lot of manual work and checking and re-checking the entries. We close up when the sun goes down and the street lights come on, usually after a long day of chatting with customers and filling out forms. It’s a typical Mumbai workplace where every inch of space is used for something important.
