Down at Lohar Chawl in Kandivali West, you’ll find our shop, RMC 43. It’s right near Hindustan Naka, which is always a mess of cars and people. We deal with auto parts, so the place is always a bit greasy and full of metal bits. We have shelves reaching all the way to the ceiling, packed with everything from small bolts to heavy engine components. Most of the time, I can find what a customer needs just by memory, even if the boxes are buried behind three other things. It’s a bit of a maze in here. People come in with broken parts in their hands, asking if we have a replacement, and we spend time looking through the catalogs or the stacks. The noise from the street is constant, with horns honking and people shouting. We don't have air conditioning, just a couple of old wall fans that do their best. It gets pretty hot during the summer months. We’ve been at this spot for a while now, and we know most of the mechanics in the neighborhood. They stop by for a chat even when they don’t need to buy anything. It’s a practical business. We don't do any big promotions or anything like that. We just sell the parts that keep the local vehicles running. Sometimes the delivery guys bring the wrong stuff and we have to sort it out, which takes up half the morning. It's just life here and we are used to the noise and the grease.
