90 Feet Road is never quiet. From the ground floor here at A/3-379, you can hear everything. We spend our mornings mostly just getting the dust off the desks before the real work starts. Being near the Sahil Hotel means there is always someone looking for a room or a taxi right outside our door. Qamar Enterprises is just us, a few desks, and a lot of papers that seem to grow in piles overnight. My tea comes around eleven from the stall down the lane, and that’s usually when we get the most done. K K Krishnan Menan Marg has changed a lot over the years, with more shops now and way more bikes parked on the curb. Sometimes it feels like the whole city is trying to squeeze through this one stretch of road. We just keep our heads down and handle whatever comes in. It is not fancy. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but we never find the time to actually clear things out to do it. The light is okay in the afternoons, but the morning sun is pretty harsh. You get used to the rhythm of the traffic and the specific sound of the shutters going up along the block. We stay busy with the local stuff. Most days are long, but that’s just how it goes when you are right in the middle of everything on 90 Feet Road. We are here every day.
