Sharon Narrow Fabric

Our place is in Hamid Estate, specifically at Gala no. 2A on the first floor. We are inside Kamrudin Compound, which is right across from the Nand Jyot Industrial Estate. This is on A.K. Road in Sakinaka, Andheri East. Anyone who knows Sakinaka knows that the traffic is legendary, so we are used to the noise of horns and the general chaos of the street outside. Inside our gala, things are a bit more focused. Sharon Narrow Fabric is where we spend our ten-hour days. Since we are on the first floor, we have to haul everything up and down the stairs, which keeps us in shape I suppose. The compound is full of different small businesses, so there is a lot of coming and going at all hours. It can get pretty cramped with all the materials we have stored, but we’ve found a way to organize it so we can still move around. The lighting isn’t the best, and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we are too busy to worry about that. We focus on the machines and making sure everything is running like it should. We get a lot of regulars dropping in to see how things are going. It’s a busy, gritty part of Mumbai to work in, but it’s where we belong. We just keep doing our thing day after day. Most evenings, we finish up and join the crowd at the tea stall.
