My brother and I have been at this spot in Bhandup West for a while now. We deal with all sorts of batteries here on SS Road. People usually come in when their car won't start or their inverter is acting up at home. It’s a small shop but we keep busy. Dealing with lead acid and those heavy things isn't easy work but it's what we do. Sometimes it gets a bit messy with the acid and the testing equipment scattered around. We just try to get people back on the road or make sure their lights stay on during a power cut. It’s mostly locals from the neighborhood who stop by. We know most of the faces around here. If a battery is dead, we tell them. If it can be charged, we do that instead. There’s no fancy waiting room or anything like that. Just a counter and a lot of stock piled up in the back. We've seen how the road has changed over the years, more traffic now for sure. It gets loud outside with all the rickshaws and buses constantly honking. We open up early and stay until the sun goes down. It’s just honest work, day in and day out. Nothing complicated about it. We handle the returns and the scrap too. If you're looking for us, we're right near the main stretch. Most days we are just busy cleaning terminals or checking voltages. It’s what keeps the lights on for us and for the customers. We also help people understand how to keep their batteries lasting longer.
