We are based on the second floor of 126/128 Nagdevi Street. It is a very old building in a part of the city that is famous for hardware and tools. You have to walk up a narrow set of stairs to reach us, and usually, there are boxes or crates sitting in the hallway. Our room is filled with all kinds of springs. We have big heavy ones and tiny ones that you can barely see. The air always smells a bit like oil and metal, which is just part of the job. We spend our time measuring wire thickness and testing how much weight a spring can hold. It’s a small operation, just a few of us working at old wooden benches. We don't have a computer system that does everything for us. We still write a lot of things down in big ledgers. When the market gets busy, the noise from the street below is incredibly loud. You can hear people bartering and carts rattling over the stones all day long. We usually get our tea from the vendor who stands right at the corner. He’s been there as long as we have. We aren't fancy people and our office reflects that. It is just a place where we work hard and try to make sure we have what people are looking for when they come up those stairs. It has been our daily routine for a long time now.
