Shah Vanaji Kesaji & Co. is located right in the heart of Zaveri Bazar at Shop No 3, Trimurti Market. If you’ve ever walked through the narrow lanes of Zaveri Bazar, you know how crowded and energetic it is. 128 is the building number, and Trimurti Market is one of those places where every inch of space is used for something. Our shop isn't very large, but we’ve managed to fit everything we need inside. It’s an old area of Mumbai, and you can feel that history in the walls and the stone floors. We open up early, usually around the same time as the other shops in the market. There is a lot of talk and haggling happening right outside our door all day. Sometimes it gets so loud we have to speak up just to hear each other. We’ve been here at Shah Vanaji Kesaji & Co. for a long time, and we know most of the other shopkeepers by name. We share tea and talk about the market trends or just the weather. The shop has shelves reaching up to the ceiling, mostly filled with boxes and ledgers. It’s a bit dusty, and the lighting could be better, but it’s home for us. People come and go through Trimurti Market constantly, and we are just one small part of that daily flow. It’s a humble spot, but it’s where all our business happens and where we spend most of our time.
