Our business, Shah Shamji Pethabhai & Co., is located at Shop 7 in Jani Villa. We are on Nehru Road in Vile Parle East. It is a very busy part of the city, especially being so close to the Bharat Hindu Hotel. People are always walking by, and there is a lot of noise from the street. The shop is quite old-fashioned. We have wooden shelves and a heavy desk where we sit and handle the accounts. We have been doing this for a long time, and the name on the door has been there through many seasons. It is a family-style business, so things are done in a certain way. We don't have computers everywhere; we still like to use paper for a lot of our notes. The space is filled with the smell of old ledgers and sometimes the food from the hotel nearby. We know most of our regulars by name, and they know us. It is the kind of place where you can sit and talk for a bit while doing business. We don't rush through things here. It is important to do the work right rather than doing it fast. Even though the world outside is changing and getting faster, we try to keep things steady. It is a small shop but it has a lot of history in these walls. We just keep going one day at a time, serving the folks who come to us.
