Scraps Tyres

Our place, Scraps Tyres, is located right in the middle of Bandra Kurla Complex in Bandra East. It’s a bit of a contrast to all the big shiny corporate buildings nearby. We deal with old rubber and used tyres all day long. The yard is usually filled with stacks of different sizes, from small scooter tyres to big ones for trucks. It’s a messy job, and by the end of the day, our clothes are covered in black dust and grime. We spend a lot of time sorting through what comes in to see what can still be used and what is just junk. People from all over Bandra come by when they need something cheap to get them through a few months. It’s not a quiet place. The sound of the traffic from the main road is always there, and we have the noise of the air compressor going too. We have a small shed where we keep some of the better stock out of the rain, but mostly everything sits out in the open. Sometimes it’s hard to find exactly what a customer wants in the piles, so we end up moving a lot of heavy rubber around. The sun beats down on the yard in the afternoon, making the smell of old tyres even stronger. We just keep at it, day after day. It’s just how things are here in Bandra East. We don’t have fancy signs or a reception area, just the tyres and the tools we use to change them.
