Our studio is tucked away in the Mahalaxmi Industrial Estate, specifically on the first floor. It is in Lower Parel West, right behind the Phoenix Mall area. It can be a bit tricky to find if you aren't familiar with these industrial buildings. D.H. Road is always buzzing with people and cars. Once you get inside and up the stairs, it’s a lot more peaceful. We spend most of our time here working with cameras and lighting. It is an old industrial space, so it has those high ceilings which are great for what we do. There’s a lot of history in these walls. We aren't a big agency with lots of assistants running around. It’s usually just a couple of us handling everything from the shoots to the editing. We like the raw feel of this neighborhood. There are always trucks moving and people working nearby. It feels like a place where things actually get made. We’ve been here for a good while. The commute is okay most days, though the traffic near the mall can be a nightmare in the evenings. We just keep the doors open and focus on the images. We don’t do a lot of talking about "art" or anything fancy like that. We just take the photos that need taking and try to make them look right. It’s a solid way to make a living in the city. We have a small kettle for tea and some old chairs for visitors. It's nothing fancy, but it works for us. We've seen the neighborhood change a lot, but we stay focused on our work here.
