We’re located up on the second floor of Sathyam Apartment, room 202. That’s on Raghunath Mathre Road in Dahisar West. Santathi Creations Pvt. Ltd. is basically a small team of us working in a converted apartment space. It’s a bit tight with all the patterns and sample pieces hanging around, but it feels like home. We spend a lot of time sketching and looking at different fabric swatches under the window light. The elevator in the building is a bit slow, so we usually just take the stairs. It’s quieter up here than down on the street, which helps when we need to concentrate on the details. We don't have a big corporate structure. If something needs doing, whoever is closest just does it. Sometimes we stay late when we have a big deadline, ordering food from the place downstairs. We know all the neighbors in the building, and they're used to the sound of our cutting shears. It's not a massive factory, just a place where we try to turn ideas into actual clothes. We have piles of magazines for inspiration and old binders full of notes from past projects. We don't do much self-promotion; we just let the work speak for itself to the people who buy from us. It's a steady life and we like the community here in Dahisar. We usually keep the window open to let in a bit of a breeze.
