Aartika Fragnance

Aartika Fragnance is located in Room No 645 inside Ramji Gupta Chawl. It is on S.B. Patil Marg in the Gazdhar Bandh area, which is always full of people and noise. Being near Kalpana Dairy means there are always delivery trucks moving around outside. The room we work in is very small and packed with different bottles and ingredients. It smells very strong of perfumes and oils as soon as you step inside the chawl. We have a small table where we mix things and some shelves that go all the way to the ceiling. It is not a fancy showroom. The light in the room is a bit dim so we have a bright tube light on the wall. We have lived and worked in this area for a long time. Sometimes the rain leaks a little near the door during the heavy storms. We spend the day filling small bottles and labeling them by hand. The walk to our room is through a narrow passage where the neighbors often leave their bicycles. It is a very local way of doing things. We don’t have a big sign outside, just the room number. The smell of the dairy and the fragrances mix together in the afternoons. It is just how it is here. We keep our supplies in plastic bins under the table to save space.
