Sainath Diamonds

We are located over at Modi Chambers, right near French Bridge in the Opera House area. If you know this part of Mumbai, you know it’s always crowded with people looking at stones. Our office is in room 201. It’s a small space, mostly filled with benches and good lighting for looking at diamonds. We spend most of our hours here just sorting through packets and checking the quality of what comes in. It gets pretty loud outside with the traffic and the street noise, but inside we just focus on the work. We aren't some big corporate office with glass walls; it’s more like a traditional setup where everyone knows each other. Usually, there's a lot of tea drinking and talking about the market prices while we work. We’ve been in this building for a good while. Dealing with diamonds is just what we do, day in and day out. It’s a lot of squinting through loupes and making sure the counts are right. Nothing too exciting happens, but it’s steady. Sometimes the elevators in the building act up, so we end up taking the stairs. It keeps us moving. It’s just a normal business in a very busy diamond hub. We don’t have a big front desk or anything, just a door and a workspace where the real work happens. It’s a bit cramped when we get a big delivery, but we make it work.
