S. T. Bookwala & Bros.

You can find us at 101 Bhajipala Lane, which is right near Mohammedally Road. It’s a very busy part of town with a lot of noise and people moving around. S. T. Bookwala & Bros. has been around for quite a few years now. We deal with books, mostly, but we have all sorts of stationery and paper goods too. The shop is filled from floor to ceiling with stacks of things. Sometimes it’s hard to find exactly what you’re looking for, but we usually know where everything is. It’s a family business, so it’s just us brothers and a couple of helpers. We don't have a computer system to track every single item; we just remember. People come in looking for school books or ledgers for their own businesses. We aren't a fancy bookstore with a cafe or soft chairs. It’s a practical place where you come to get what you need and then go about your day. We’ve seen the neighborhood change a lot over the years, but the lane stays pretty much the same. It’s narrow and crowded, but it’s home. We don't do much in the way of promotion. If you need a book, you come to the lane. We just keep the shelves stocked and try to be helpful when someone asks a question. It’s a lot of lifting heavy boxes and dealing with dust, but we don't mind the work.
