S Sundaram

Working at the New Grain Market in Powai is a lot of physical work and the days start way before the sun is even up. Over at S Sundaram, specifically in unit G 401, we spend most of our time dealing with heavy sacks and stacks of inventory. The market is always loud with trucks backing in and drivers shouting to each other across the loading docks. Our space is pretty functional and isn't meant for looking pretty. There is usually dust in the air from all the grain being moved around, so you just get used to it after a while. I spend a good chunk of my afternoon checking lists and making sure things are where they are supposed to be. G 401 is a bit tucked away, so if you aren't looking for it, you might miss it among all the other stalls. Sometimes the rain makes the whole market area a bit of a mess with the mud, but work doesn't really stop for that. I drink a lot of tea while sitting on the plastic crates during my breaks. People from the other units stop by to chat about the prices or just the weather. It is a busy life here and by the time I head home, my clothes usually smell like the market. It’s just a regular business in a very busy part of Powai where things are always moving.
