We’re tucked away in Gala No 12 at the Laxmi Industrial Estate in Andheri East. If you know Suresh Nagar, you know it’s a bit of a maze back here sometimes. Ruby Arts isn’t some big corporate studio; it’s more of a workspace where we actually get our hands dirty. There’s usually the smell of paint or some kind of material in the air depending on what we’re working on that day. Being in an industrial estate means there is always the sound of machines or trucks moving nearby, but we just tune it out. We spend most of our hours just focusing on the projects people bring us. It’s a lot of manual effort, making sure the lines are straight or the colors are what they were supposed to be. Andheri East is always a bit chaotic, but once you step inside the gala, it’s just us and the work. We’ve had this spot for a while and we’ve seen a lot of businesses come and go around us. We just keep doing our thing, day in and day out. It’s not always pretty, and sometimes the workshop is a complete mess of scraps and sketches, but that’s just how art happens. We don’t really have time for fancy talk, we just try to get the orders done right and move on to the next one. It's a living.
