Being in Mumbai is a whole different ball game, especially in Lower Parel. Our office is located at 11/58 in the B.D.D. Chawls on N.M. Joshi Marg. If you know Mumbai, you know how these chawls are—they are full of life and very crowded. Our space is small and we’ve had to be very smart about how we fit our desks and files into it. The walls are thick, but you can still hear the city outside—the taxis, the people shouting, and the general hum of Lower Parel. It’s a far cry from a fancy glass tower, but we like being right here in the middle of everything. It keeps us grounded. We deal with a lot of the logistical headaches that come with building in such a cramped city. Getting materials delivered to sites around here is a nightmare, so we spend a lot of our day on the phone trying to coordinate trucks and laborers. The office is often a bit messy with blueprints rolled up in corners and samples of flooring scattered around. We have a small fan that works overtime to keep the heat away during the humid months. There’s a real sense of history in these old buildings, and we are just another small part of that story. We don't have a receptionist; if someone knocks, one of us just looks up from our paperwork. It’s a busy, cramped, and honest way to run a construction business in the heart of the city. We wouldn't want to be anywhere else.
